562 Water Polo Club started with an idea: provide an opportunity for ALL young athletes in the Long Beach area to play water polo. We wanted to create a water polo club focused on making sure all interested athletes had the chance to enjoy the sport of water polo regardless of their past experience or financial background. We also wanted to establish a club team that concentrated on developing the individual water polo skills often glossed over or neglected during the fast-paced high school season. Realizing that no club in the immediate area offered all of these things, the idea for 562 Water Polo Club was born.

To introduce young athletes to the sport of water polo and develop individual skills and team play in a positive learning environment. To provide resources and coaching instruction that develops athletes and allows them the opportunity to play at the college level.

Reach out to the greater Long Beach community to ignite interest in water polo among a diverse group of young athletes. Initially focusing on high school age players, the club will look to expand to welcome younger athletes to build a stronger water polo community in Long Beach specifically to feed into our Long Beach high schools.

We believe that water polo should be accessible to all athletes who want to play the sport. Our goal is to grow the sport right here in our backyard in Long Beach. We want to provide a water polo club that gives ALL young athletes the opportunity to play water polo. Staying true to this philosophy, we have grades-based scholarship opportunities for families who need financial assistance in order to allow their young athlete to play and participate in the sport.

Our coaching philosophy is that building character leads to results. While we are teaching valuable skills that allow athletes to be competitive water polo players, we always focus on helping our athletes grow into model citizens. We adhere to the following model when coaching our athletes:

Character > Process > Effort > Result

Character is what drives the process, which drives the result.

• Character: Who you are as a person

• Process: The effort in which you aim toward a result

• Result: The goal, or in other words, the result to which effort is aimed
